Hampshire's Coon Creek Country Days has it all

As far as festivals go, Hampshire's Coon Creek Country Days ticks all the boxes.

Want to play bingo? Go on a carnival ride? Listen to local music? Watch a parade? Or even run a race? You can do all that and more at Coon Creek. Festival hours are 6-10:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25; 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, Aug. 26; 1 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Aug. 27; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, on State Street, one block south of Allen Road, Hampshire.

The entertainment lineup includes Two Beer Tommy Band at 6 p.m. and Jimmy Nick Band at 8 p.m. Thursday; Smokin' Gunz at 6:30 p.m. and Semple at 9 p.m. Friday; The Couch Coins at 1:30 p.m., Who Cares? at 4 p.m., Hillbilly Rockstarz at 6:30 p.m. and Modern Day Romeos at 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and The MacKenzie O'Brien Band at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

For kids, there will be a petting zoo, kids tent and Touch-a-Truck on Saturday afternoon; on Sunday, a petting zoo and pony rides.

A craft show and bingo will take place daily, and there will be food vendors and a beer garden. Food vendors include Genoa Italian Concessions, Barone's, RS Concessions, Witters Concessions, Double R Barbecue, Knights of Columbus, Slow Smoke BBQ, Salsa Grill and Moster Shake-ups.

A fireworks show by Mad Bomber Fireworks will take place at 9:10 p.m. Saturday; the rain date is Sunday.

The 39th annual Coon Creek Classic 2K and 10K kicks off at 8 a.m. Sunday. Registration is $30-$35. The race begins and ends at Hampshire Middle School, 560 S. State St. Medals will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age division in both races. Plaques (10K only) will be given to the top male and top female overall finishers and the top male and female finishers who reside in Hampshire. The parade begins at noon Sunday, starting at Warner Street and Washington Avenue, and proceeding west to State Street, and south on State to Terwilliger.

After the parade festivalgoers can enjoy a corn boil from 1-2:30 p.m. on the festival grounds.
