Sound check: Colin Peterik, Charlie Otto, FOZZY on stage this week

When your dad is Ides of March and Survivor's Jim Peterik, a certain amount of musical interest is bound to rub off. But Colin Peterik's musical legacy is a voice all his own. With last summer's debut album "Everything and Nothing" and recent singles "My Secrets" and "Michiana" - as well as a brand-new reinterpretation of Lana del Ray's "West Coast" - the Colin Peterik Band is showing a mastery blending his skate-culture rebellion with Chicago blues and rock (with a little psychedelia mixed in for good measure). Peterik takes the stage for his first headlining show at City Winery next week, joined by Chicago soul band The Devonns.

The spectacular Charlie Otto
Get ready to move at Chop Shop as Charlie Otto prepares to light up the night. On its own merits, the electro-pop of the former Palatine musician is all defiant energy - dynamic beats, sparkling melodies and spirited messages about standing/thinking/living for oneself. But as Otto and his recent project Charlie Otto & His Gear evolves, so does the art. He calls it "solo performance of electronic music videos," and Otto uses his instruments to manipulate video clips, animation and eye-popping visuals on the fly in a groundbreaking, performance-driven spectacle, a perfect match for Chop Shop's giant LED wall stage backdrop. Catch him with Fresh Hops and Toke Magic as they dazzle the Chicago venue this weekend.

FOZZY in Aurora
Pro wrestler, actor and musician Chris Jericho leads heavy-metal outfit FOZZY to Aurora for a headlining show this weekend. The powerhouse band will be joined on stage by GFM, KrashKarma and The Nocturnal Affair as their "Save the World Tour" makes a stop at The Piazza, a premiere venue drawing killer rock shows to the Western suburbs.
