Wheeling Park District offering outdoor, nighttime activities for kids

If you're a Wheeling-area resident looking for activities for your young kids this winter, the Wheeling Park District has some ideas.

A build-a-snowman activity is scheduled for 1 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Community Recreation Center, 100 Community Blvd. Crafts and hot cocoa are on the schedule, too. Kids can be dropped off for this event. Pickup is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

All participants will get snowman kits for home use. Kids should wear outdoor-appropriate clothing. The event is open to kids ages 5-10 years old.

Participation will cost $12 for district residents or $17 for anyone else. The registration deadline is Feb. 3.

Additionally, the center will host a glow-in-the-dark party on Feb. 18. It'll run from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is for kids ages 5-10. As with the first event, parents can drop off their kids.

Games will be played and pizza will be served.

Participation costs $15 for district residents or $20 for anyone else. The registration deadline is Feb. 16.

Finally, the recreation center will hold a preschool open house from 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 2.

Parents and kids can meet the leadership staff, learn about the curriculum and tour the facilities. The usual registration fee will be waived for anyone who registers during the open house.
