Cirque Italia is returning to Gurnee next month with a new show for adults -- a circus promising "sensual cabaret dancing, Broadway-style musical performance and sidesplitting comedy."

Cirque Alcatraz, a traveling show for mature audiences created by Cirque Italia, will pitch its big top tent outside Gurnee Mills for 14 performances from Nov. 4 through 14.

According to press materials, the show will tell a story of two best friends who were framed for murder and are forced to survive in the world's most dangerous prison.

Productions from the company include Cirque Italia's touring Water Circus, which stopped in Aurora in August.

No children under 13 will be permitted, and teenagers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 21 with a valid ID. Tickets run from $10 to $50 and are available at cirquealcatraz.com. Guests are required to wear masks to the show.
