Parade of trucks to roll through Rolling Meadows Friday

A cavalcade of cement mixers, tractors, fire trucks, police squad cars, garbage trucks and other vehicles will roll through Rolling Meadows at noon Friday.

The Rolling Meadows Park District's Trucks Rolling Through parade was borne out of the pandemic, when the annual Touch-a-Truck event went mobile last year to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines. Officials decided to bring the new concept back this summer.

"We thought we would continue that success with another parade showcasing unique vehicles from the community for truck enthusiasts and kids of all ages to enjoy," Recreation Supervisor Kailey Schwartzhoff said in a news release.

Onlookers are invited to go out on their driveways and sidewalks starting at noon. The parade will make two rounds, beginning and ending at the Community Center, 3705 Pheasant Drive.

The full parade route is from the Community Center to Grouse Lane to Meadow Drive to Campbell Street to Cardinal Drive to Owl Drive to Central Road to Jay Lane to Grouse Lane to Meadow Drive.

A sensory-friendly portion of the parade - without horns or sirens - will be from Grouse Lane to Meadow Drive, until the parade reaches Kirchoff Road.
