Quick, fun ideas to make the most of your indoor space

We came across several “quick hit” ideas for getting more out of your home space.

• If you live in a studio apartment, you can section off an area for sleeping or for an at-home work space. Consider suspending a long fabric drape from a ceiling track, available at places like Home Depot. Place your bed or desk against a window or wall at the far end of your studio space and segment it with the drape. One designer even suspended a large painting from the ceiling immediately next to the drape to further separate the sleeping area from the socializing space.

• Use every available inch of space by building bookshelves around doorways and use the space underneath built-in benches for storage.

• If you need a place to work at home, consider a wall-mounted desk with shelves above it and place it an unused corner. IKEA has an inexpensive wall-mounted floating desk that is ideal for working on a laptop.

• Consider placing a writing desk with a small chair up against the end of your bed instead of putting a trunk or bench there. You will gain valuable work space.
