Healthy Lombard launches winter fitness program for kids

The Healthy Lombard Foundation is sponsoring a "Winter Frosted Apple Fitness Program" for kids ages 6 to 14.

The program was created in response to kids missing out on physical education classes and other extracurricular activities amid the coronavirus pandemic. Between Jan. 17 to March 28, Healthy Lombard will send out a weekly email to parents with ideas and demonstrations on how kids can keep active.

The program is free to join, and gives kids an opportunity to win a prize based upon a number of fitness and nutritional challenges. Prizes have been donated by local businesses including Orangetheory Fitness, Helen Plum Library, Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo and more.

All registration and activity tracking will be completed online. Children must be registered by an adult to participate in the program.

Registration can happen at any time after the start date of Jan. 17. Prize winners will be contacted in April 2021. For more information, visit healthylombard.com/frostedapple.
