Sound check: Joe Pug, Jeff Tweedy and iHeart's Jingle Ball go online

Joe Pug online

Singer-songwriter Joe Pug hits the internet with his Sunday night livestream performance, a semiregular event he's been hosting since his live shows ground to a halt. Catch Pug, who lived in the Logan Square neighborhood for a time, as he plays songs from last year's release, "The Flood in Color," and dives into his full folk-Americana catalog.

8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, on YouTube; visit joepugmusic.com for details.

Holiday swings

Chicago-area favorites blues and jazz diva Lynne Jordan and harmonica icon Corky Siegel present a two-hour livestreaming holiday spectacular this weekend, hosted by Evanston's Levy Senior Center Foundation. The show - recorded musical sets plus a live conversation session - is free, but please register in advance.

5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at lscfevanston.org.

Tickling the keys

Pianist extraordinaire Jim Brickman is playing a series of at-home concerts this holiday season to raise funds for theaters struggling because of the pandemic. Friday, he plays his "Comfort & Joy at Home LIVE!" with a few special guests - Wayne Brady, Jane Lynch, Matt Nathanson, Jewel and Pat Monahan (from Train) - to benefit Naperville's North Central College Fine & Performing Arts. Get a dose of holiday spirit while feeling good about giving to a good cause.

7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4; $40, $75 and $125 for various meet-and-greet and merch packages at jimbrickman.com.

The Blues Angels

The Chicago Blues Angels Trio livestreams its blues-rock set, heavy with rockabilly and roots influences, from Aurora's The Venue this weekend. The show will be streaming on The Venue's Facebook and YouTube pages for free, but donations are welcome and will be split between the artist and the Fox Valley Music Foundation.

7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at facebook.com/TheVenueAurora.

Jeff and Spencer Tweedy

Folk singer and violinist Gaelynn Lea took the pandemic lockdown as a new challenge, tackling weekly Sunday afternoon livestreams since March 22. This weekend, Jeff Tweedy (of Chicago's Wilco) and his son Spencer Tweedy join her broadcast as they talk, play some music and answer questions from viewers. The show will be streaming free on Lea's YouTube page, but tips are welcome and will be split between the artists.

2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at YouTube.com.

iHeart's Jingle Ball

When December rolls into town, it usually brings a couple of big holiday pop shows with it. To keep music fans safe, the iHeart Radio Jingle Ball is going online this year, featuring performances from Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Lewis Capaldi, Sam Smith, Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd. The star-studded show will be streaming for free at cwtv.com or on The CW app.
