Sound check: Mungion, Lil Yachty, Houndmouth play drive-in shows
At the drive-in
Mungion, with members from throughout the suburban area, brings its fan-favorite funk-infused rock and jams to the Lakeshore Drive-In at Chicago's Adler Planetarium this weekend, capping off three nights of live performances at the venue. Mungion plays a 7 to 10:30 p.m. set Sunday, Aug. 16. The weekend kicks off with two performances by rapper Lil Yachty Friday, Aug. 14; Indiana band Houndmouth takes the stage Saturday, Aug. 15. Cars of up to six will be situated in designated parking spots with space in between for watching the shows while still maintaining social distancing. Masks will be required for those leaving their cars for concessions and to use the restrooms.

Bolingbrook Jubilee
The Bolingbrook Jubilee is going to look a little different this year. For safety reasons, the Jaycees carnival has been canceled, but the music will still go on (following state-mandated safety restrictions, of course). Kicking off Friday at 6:30 p.m. will be Maggie Speaks, followed by ARRA at 9 p.m. Saturday's music starts at noon with Neighbor John, 3 If By Air at 2 p.m., Boy Band Night at 4 p.m., Semple at 6 p.m. and 16 Candles from 9 to 11 p.m. Sunday's lineup includes Claremont Drive at noon, The Instinct at 2 p.m., The PriSSillas at 4 p.m., Five Guys Named Moe at 6 p.m. and wrapping up with Infinity from 8 to 10 p.m. Concessions will be available along with Jaycees bingo, a car show and craft fair; check the schedules at bbcca.org for other events.

The '90s at BaseCamp
Enjoy two days of the music, the moves and the fashion choices that made the '90s great with '90s Palooza Vol. 4 at BaseCamp Pub in Lisle this weekend. For the fourth year, BaseCamp brings a solid lineup of acts paying tribute to the bands we loved — this time with more social distancing. On Saturday, check out There Goes the Neighborhood, Fueled by Emo, Succubus, Weeze, Jagged Little Pill and Grunge County. Sunday, the lineup includes Junkhead, Big Bang Baby, Bad Motorfingers and Straight Jacket Romance. This year's edition will be held on the BaseCamp patio, so space will be limited. Get there early and bring your mask for this family-friendly event.

Gerald Dowd at The Venue
In his nearly three decades since moving to Chicago in 1991, drummer Gerald Dowd has solidified his place on the music scene, touring with Robbie Fulks, playing with Justin Roberts and the Not-Ready-for-Naptime-Players and tackling his own solo projects on many of the city's hottest stages. Monday, Aug. 17, he plays a special livestream performance at Aurora's The Venue. The livestream, which starts at 7 p.m., is free, but donations to help out the temporarily shuttered venue are greatly appreciated. Find more info at eventbrite.com.
The heart of Heart
Ann Wilson, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer whose voice lent so much power to Heart's soaring hits, was scheduled to perform at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles Tuesday. But alas, the pandemic. The Arcada Theatre is releasing footage of Wilson's electrifying 2018 Arcada performance, streaming for free at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, to all who register.
