Sound check: Daughtry livestream supports Chicago venue

"The Masked Singer" runner up and "American Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry kicks off his national "Live from Home" virtual tour Wednesday, Aug. 12, with a performance supporting Chicago's Park West theater and music venue. A percentage of proceeds from tickets sales and tips for the unique acoustic rock set, Q&A session and video meet-and-greet will support the venue. Played from the singer's performance space in Nashville, this livestream event will be accessible to viewers from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa, so be sure to purchase tickets to the correct show.

Side Street battle finale

Side Street Studio Arts wraps up this summer's Battle of the Bands with a live listening party from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8. Join organizers as they celebrate all the finalists - Foresight, The Romantic Satire, Homie Stock, Swimshirt, Soaking Up Sandcastles, The Mini Projects, Dillie Jean, Walrus Filter and Moore - and cast your vote to see who walks away with the $200 grand prize. Locals supporting venues

This weekend, Bottlenose Presents hosts a livestream performance by Chicago-area artists in support of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) and the Chicago-area venues in need of assistance during the pandemic. Featuring Max Loebman (of Rookie and Yoko and the Oh No's), Mitchell Kinn and Joey Resko of Weekend Run Club and former Naperville pop artist Co-Stanza, the show will be livestreamed at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at facebook.com.

Nikho release party

Producer and DJ Robert Nikho takes over this weekend's Sunday Smokeout at BrauerHouse to put on a release show for his new track, "What You Want." In addition to the Lombard restaurant and venue's usual Sunday brunch specials, guests will be treated to tunes starting at 11 a.m. from Nikho, Saladin, DJ Cross, Goodsex, Tsunami, TomCat Trumpet and more. Ravinia on screen

Ravinia Festival pays tribute to Janis Joplin on the 50th anniversary of her appearance at the park with its sixth episode of the weekly RaviniaTV streaming program. Terry Talbot, who opened for Joplin at Ravinia in 1970, will talk about his backstage experiences with the legendary singer. And Cathy Richardson, of Jefferson Starship, will round out the event with performances of some of Joplin's greatest hits as well talking about touring and starring in "Love, Janis" off-Broadway.
