Theater's non-equity Jeff Awards postponed during 'time of unrest'

The 47th annual non-equity Joseph Jefferson Awards, which were to have been presented virtually next week due to the COVID-19 pandemic, have been postponed.

According to a prepared statement, the Jeff Committee "has joined other arts industry groups to pause events during this time of unrest" related to the nationwide protests that arose following the May 25 killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

The committee did not indicate when the award ceremony honoring excellence in nonunion Chicago theater during the 2019-2020 season will take place.
