Radiothon to benefit key independent Chicago music venues

Chicago's independent music venues are at risk of closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So as a fundraiser, 101.1 WKQX-FM is broadcasting a 34-hour Save Our Stages Radiothon in honor of the 34 concert clubs that make up the Chicago Independent Venue League.

The radiothon runs from 6 a.m. Thursday, May 21, through 4 p.m. Friday, May 22.

101WKQX's morning crew - Brian Haddad, Ali Mattacola and Justin Nettlebeck - will host the radiothon. Each hour, they'll be playing music and talking with venue owners whose stages have hosted acts from the city, suburbs and across the nation. They'll also be raising donations for each venue's individual GoFundMe.com pages, which can be found at civlchicago.com/relief.

Member venues include such clubs as Beat Kitchen, Martyrs, Metro, Reggies, Schubas and Thalia Hall.

The radiothon is also available online at 101WKQX.com.
