Aurora's Copley Theatre debuts Bold Series

Paramount Theatre's announcement Thursday of its new Bold Series at the 165-seat Copley Theatre raises the curtain on what Paramount representatives have described as an "underutilized gem" in downtown Aurora.

Located across the street from Paramount, the Copley Theatre is undergoing a $2 million renovation which will be completed by the Oct. 7 opening of the inaugural production in the Bold Series: Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire."

That's followed by David Lindsay-Abaire's moving domestic drama "Rabbit Hole" (Jan. 13-Feb. 28, 2021). Next up is Robert Askins' dark comedy "Hand to God" (March 24-May 9, 2021), about a young Christian boy overwhelmed by his satanic puppet.

The season concludes with the musical "Fun Home" (June 9-July 25, 2021), adapted from Alison Bechdel's graphic memoir about discovering her sexuality and her life with her closeted father.

Theatergoers renewing their subscriptions to Paramount's 2020-21 Broadway Series - as well as new subscribers who have preordered a 2020-21 subscription - can purchase Bold Series subscriptions beginning April 1. The general public can purchase Bold Series subscriptions beginning May 4. Individual tickets go on sale Aug. 7.
