Food, music, animals and more at the Lake County Fair July 24-28

An array of activities, performances, demonstrations and more returns to Grayslake when the 91st Annual Lake County Fair comes to down Wednesday through Sunday, July 24-28 at the at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 1060 E. Peterson Road, Grayslake.

Lake County's biggest festival offers carnival rides and games, live entertainment including musical performances by over two dozen bands, children's activities. livestock judging and demonstrations, competitions, food and merchandise vendors, two beer gardens, demolition derbies, a rodeo, a livestock auction and more.

Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Livestock barn hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday though Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Expo hall hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Main gate ticket sales begin at 8 a.m. and midway rides and games open at noon daily.

Scheduled musical performances include 7th heaven and The Original Rockin Fenderskirts on Wednesday; Brecken Miles and King by Friday on Thursday; Ultra Violet and Wall of Denial on Friday; Hillbilly Rockstarz and Saddlebrook on Saturday; and Libido Funk Circus and Zydeco Voodoo on Sunday, along with many others.

The Grandstand Arena will feature a Monster Truck Show at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; the Tough Trucks Demolition Derby at 6 p.m. Friday; Pro Rodeo Stampede at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday; and the Total Destruction Sunday Demolition Derby at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Activities and entertainment offered every day of the fair will include Miller's Petting Zoo, the Ag Adventure presented by the Lake County Farm Bureau, Lambs Farm's Creature Features, the Lake County Farm Heritage Society, Ham Bone Express pig racing, Banana Derby racing (dogs with monkey jockeys), Timberwork's Lumberjack Show and the Canine Start Stunt Dog Show, as well as various farm animal shows and demonstrations. Beer Tent Bingo will be offered Wednesday through Saturday.

Tickets are available online or at the gate, and are $10 for one day or $35 for a season pass; or $5 for one day and $15 for a season pass for seniors 65 and older and children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at the gate only for $5 for active military and veterans and their families with valid ID; admission is free for active military in uniform, and on Friday for military, veterans and families with valid ID.

All-you-can-ride wristband specials for the midway rides are available for $20 from 5-10 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
