Binny's pairing for barbecue

When deciding on a wine for your catered backyard barbecue or block party, keep it simple.

Seek out soft and juicy wines where fruit flavors take center stage. The charred notes of smoked or grilled meat drizzled with a spicy barbecue sauce or savory chimichurri deserve a wine with just as much punch. So avoid anything subtle, and seek out a fruit-driven red such as the 2018 Sierra de Viento Garnacha or the 2017 Santa Julia Malbec Winemaker's Reserve. Both are rich, muscular reds whose jammy fruit flavors can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with anything from smoky brisket and pulled pork to grilled chicken and juicy burgers.

And consider the 2017 Liparita Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy with grilled vegetables. Its exotic fruit notes are ideal with the charred, caramelized notes of grilled asparagus/red peppers/onions. What's more, any of those three wines will shine with whatever sides are served up.
