Theater spotlight: Peanuts gang at Drury Lane, 'In To America' at the Metropolis & more

Happiness is ... Drury Lane Theatre for Young Audiences' revival of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," the musical inspired by Charles M. Schulz's beloved comic strip. Clark Gesner's tuner consists of vignettes featuring Charlie Brown and his Peanuts pals: Lucy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder and everyone's favorite beagle, Snoopy.

American tales

The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre welcomes Chicago's Griffin Theatre and its original production "In To America," which traces the stories of American immigrants from Jamestown to the present day. The production is part of Metropolis' Stories in Action! series for school-age children and families. It's recommended for grades six to 12.

Counting down

A widowed father attempts to atone for his parenting mistakes by cloning his son in Caryl Churchill's "A Number," a provocative, future-set drama examining individuality and identity. Robin Witt directs Writers Theatre's revival of the two-hander, which stars Writers' favorite William Brown and Nate Burger.

Family dysfunction

Raven Theatre presents the Chicago-area premiere of "Yen." The dysfunctional family drama by Anna Jordan is about two mostly unsupervised teenage brothers whose world view is colored by video games, online porn and occasional visits by their drug-addicted mother until a neighbor girl insinuates herself into their lives. Elly Green directs the revival of a play that portrays the consequences of raising kids without boundaries.
