New musical featuring Britney Spears' hits premiering in Chicago

A new musical comedy about fairy tale princesses - featuring the hits of '90s pop princess Britney Spears - will make its pre-Broadway world premiere in Chicago this fall.

The jukebox musical "Once Upon a One More Time" will run Oct. 29 to Dec. 1 at Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre.

The story revolves around what happens when a "rogue fairy godmother" upends the lives of Cinderella, Snow White and other fairy tale princesses by bringing a copy of "The Feminine Mystique" to their royal book club. Will happily ever after take on a whole new meaning?

The musical features an original book by Jon Hartmere ("The Upside," "Bare"), direction by Tony Award nominee Kristin Hanggi ("Rock of Ages"), and choreography by MTV Video Music Award nominees Keone and Mari Madrid.

"Throughout her career, Britney has captivated fans across the globe with her singular brand of energy and resilience," said theater producer James L. Nederlander in a statement. "For three years, we have been working closely with her to develop a concept that perfectly encapsulates her unique spirit, and are so thrilled to finally bring this joyous and electrifying show to the stage."

The new show replaces the pre-Broadway run of the Michael Jackson musical "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough." Producers said that show would head straight to Broadway.

Tickets for groups of 10 or more are on sale now at (312) 977-1710 and at broadwayinchicago.com. Individual tickets will go on sale Sunday, Aug. 4.
