Roots rock with Michael Glabicki

Rusted Root (“Send Me On My Way”) may be on a hiatus, but the band's frontman Michael Glabicki and guitarist Dirk Miller are on tour with the band's worldbeat-informed roots rock sound. Guitarists for March of Dimes

Senior member Jason Minor and Prospect High School's Guitar Club are hosting a benefit for March of Dimes — an organization that raises money to help prevent birth defects and infant mortality by focusing on the health of mothers — complete with live musical performances, food, games and a silent auction. Catch some talented students at this concert while raising funds for a good cause. 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Prospect High School field house, 801 W. Kensington Road, Mount Prospect. Free, but donations are accepted. (847) 718-5200.

‘ConCERNed' with science

Want to learn a little about particle physics? London-based rapper Consensus wrote his 2017 album “ConCERNed” all about it — in cooperation with Dr. Michael Hoch and his Art@CMS program at the CERN laboratory in Switzerland. Consensus will talk about the process of merging science and rap at a free public lecture and performance at Fermilab's Ramsey Auditorium. 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Fermilab's Ramsey Auditorium, Kirk Road and Pine Street, Batavia. Free, but advanced tickets are required. (630) 840-3000 or events.fnal.gov.

Planning ahead for Spring Awakening

At this point in the year, many of us just want to slip into hibernation, but React Presents is heavy into planning for next year's Spring Awakening Music Fest, the Midwest's largest three-day all-electronic music festival. Public early-bird passes for the event — June 7-9 at Chicago's Douglas Park — go on sale at noon Tuesday, Nov. 13, at springawakeningfestival.com.
