Tributes to Paul McCartney, Bob Marley coming to Arcada Theatre

Musical acts with ties to Paul McCartney, Bob Marley and iconic Chicago-area rock bands are coming to the Arcada Theatre next year.

Tickets went on sale Wednesday for four shows at the historic entertainment venue in downtown St. Charles.

The first performance, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17, will feature Denny Laine, a Grammy-winning artist and founding member of The Moody Blues and Wings with Paul McCartney.

Laine, who also has worked with members of The Who and other groups, is expected to perform the "Band on the Run" record with the Moody Wing Band. Tickets range from $39 to $69.

On Feb. 2, the legendary Wailers reggae band will perform Bob Marley and the Wailers hits from the 1970s such as "Is This Love," "Get Up, Stand Up," and "I Shot the Sheriff." The 9:30 p.m. show, costing $39 to $89, will feature Aston "Familyman" Barrett, as well as original guitarists Julian Junior Marvin and Donald Kinsey.

The following month, tribute band The McCartney Years will make a stop at the Arcada for what former Beatles promoter Sid Bernstein has called the best Paul McCartney concert experience on the scene. The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. March 8 and costs $19 or $29.

Chicago rock groups from the 1960s and '70s will come together at 3 p.m. April 14 for a concert series called Cornerstones of Rock, which also is being turned into a live production tour. The concert special will feature The Buckinghams, The Cryan' Shames, New Colony Six, The Shadows of Knight, The Ides of March and other guests. Tickets cost $69 and $89.
