Tony-winning 'Band's Visit' stops in Chicago next year

"The Band's Visit," the acclaimed musical directed by Skokie native David Cromer that earned 10 Tony Awards last month, comes to Chicago for a brief run next year.

Broadway in Chicago on Tuesday announced the show will play the Cadillac Palace Theatre from Sept. 10 to 22, 2019.

Based on the 2007 film of the same name, the musical by composer/lyricist David Yazbek and writer Itamar Moses is about a touring Egyptian police band scheduled to play an Arab cultural center in a major Israeli city. Instead, a transportation snafu leaves them stranded overnight in a small desert town with the locals for company.

The show, which opened on Broadway in November 2017, earned Tonys for best musical, director, score and more.

Tickets for groups of 10 or more are available now at (312) 977-1710. Individual tickets will be announced at a later date. See broadwayinchicago.com.
