Where to unwind with a drink on Black Friday
For those who want to take a break from all that Black Friday shopping (and post-Thanksgiving turkey!), here are a few options throughout the suburbs for the 21 and older crowd.
Whether you're a beer lover, wine-and-cheese type or enjoy a traditional Bloody Mary, we've got you covered.
For beer fans
• Plank Road Tap Room, 39W149 Plank Road, Elgin
This rustic spot for beer lovers will open early at 1 p.m. and will feature some hard-to-find brews from Lagunitas Brewing Company: Eroica, the company's own version of a Flemish Farmhouse ale; Willett whiskey barrel-aged imperial stout; and rum barrel-aged Brown Shugga. Outside, the Toasty Cheese food truck will serve up some grilled cheese sandwiches. Limited parking.
• Bikini Bottom Bar, 105-107 W. Main St., West Dundee
This casual pub will be tapping a 2017 Bourbon County beer at 4 p.m. Which one? You'll find out when you get there. The beer will be poured into Goose Island snifter glasses. Show up early, because it might not last long.
Wine & cheese
• Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, 960 Milwaukee Ave., Lincolnshire
A wine and cheese event from 5 to 6:30 p.m. offers an assortment of fine cheeses and cheese-inspired appetizers, paired with eight red wines.

Bloody Mary Bash
• North Shore Distillery, 13990 Rockland Ave., Green Oaks
Enjoy a Bloody Mary Bash from noon to 6 p.m. with a full array of bloody mary garnishes. You can also build your own bloody mary and make it as spicy and colorful as you want.
Food & drink
• Miller's Ale House, 1300 Meacham Road, Schaumburg
The latest addition to Schaumburg's dining scene bills itself as a "casual sports restaurant and bar." Miller's Ale House celebrated its grand opening Nov. 20 and will be open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Black Friday, when you can find happy hour specials from 3 to 6 p.m.
• Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago St., Elgin
Try all 12 of the eatery's specially selected holiday beers and get an Elgin Public House glass or hat. Ask your server or bartender for a punch card. The promotion starts on Black Friday, while supplies last.
