Chris Isaak coming to House of Blues
The cool of Chris
Few singers can match Chris Isaak when it comes to retro cool. With his otherworldly Elvis-mixed-with-Roy-Orbison voice and noirish rockabilly sound, Isaak provides a great soundtrack for a cold winter's night.
9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at the House of Blues, 321 N. Dearborn, Chicago. $58. Call (312) 923-2000.
It's all Fab, again
Here's a chance to travel back to the days when four lads from Liverpool, England, took over the world. The Fab Four, a Beatles tribute band renowned for its attention to detail and precise renditions of Beatles' classics, will take the stage this weekend in Aurora.
8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Paramount Theater, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora. $28.50 to $35.50. Call (630) 896-6666.
Instrumentalists
Los Straitjackets, the flamboyant, colorful instrumental rockers known for putting a contemporary spin on vintage rock, blues and even country sounds, hit Chicago's suburbs in support of the band's latest record, "The Further Adventures of Los Straitjackets." This band delivers a show like no other, combining hard-driving songs with outlandish on-stage antics. (For example, the band members play while wearing Mexican wrestling masks.)
Los Straitjackets perform with the Del Moroccos at 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Fitzgerald's, 6615 Roosevelt Road, Berwyn. $15. Call (866) 468-3401 or visit ticketweb.com.
