Naperville woman brings the spa to you

The last time I had a pedicure, I was forced to watch The Food Channel and listen to two women loudly discuss Angelina Jolie's life.

So I can certainly see the benefit of hiring Jenny Perillo.

The 26-year-old Naperville native runs the Head 2 Toe Nail Spa, a high-quality, eco-friendly, and best of all, mobile salon that can come to your house, office, hospital room or party. That way, you're sitting in your own comfy chair with your favorite TV show and friends while your hands, feet and skin are pampered.

"The compliment I get the most is the convenience factor," said Perillo, a Naperville Central High School grad who spent a few years working in Chicago spas before starting her own business at age 23. "In your house, it's a much more intimate experience and more laid back."

While mobile spas are nothing new, Head 2 Toe sets itself apart by being a "green" spa. Head 2 Toe uses only toxin-free products and offers organic and vegan services. Perillo makes all her own scrubs and lotions using natural ingredients, like raw food or essential oils, and it's led Head 2 Toe to be the only spa in Illinois that's a member of the Green Spa Network.

Price-wise, Perillo stays competitive with what you'd pay going out to a spa, with a basic manicure starting at $20 and a pedicure at $45.

Her 12 technicians are all licensed and certified, so they're able to do girlfriend parties, in-office spa days or weddings.

"I bring absolutely everything," Perillo said. "The testimonial I get is, 'It's like girlfriends coming over!'"

This summer, Head 2 Toe will offer a special manicure and pedicure called "The Mojito." It features fresh mint, sunflower oil, raw sugar, lime and a peppermint and lime infused foot mask for extra hydration. The Mojito manicure is $30 and the pedicure is $60.

New cosmetic lines at ALDI, Target

ALDI is not usually a place where women buy makeup, but it will be now. The grocery store chain is introducing a new skin care line called Lacura, which features products costing less than $4.

ALDI executives say the products are made with the same top-quality ingredients found in expensive labels. The Lacura line includes eye shadow, mascara, foundation, compact powders, blushes, nail polish and lipsticks.

Another discount chain, Target, also is launching a new skin care line called Soap & Glory. The packaging features retro black-and-white photos, and the products include everything from an anti-wrinkle cream to a lip plumping kit. Prices range from $6.99 to $11.99.

Mighty Mouth is one of the products in the new skin care line, Soap & Glory, available at Target.
