Put your best shoe forward and your boots in the closet

Winter boots, be gone.

It's time to put something on your feet that's not lined with fur or made of waterproof material.

Some of the coolest new shoes and coming out this spring and the places to get them include:

• pediped. The best thing about these shoes for infants and children is that they're stylish and functional. And the brand's spring/summer '09 collection includes both rough-and-tumble styles for boys and cutesy styles for girls. The soft-soled Harvey boys sandals are among our favorites. ($32 at many suburban shoe stores including Von Maur and Nordstrom)

• The FitFlop. Gotta get your legs in shape for summer, right? The FitFlop shoe line is designed to make you exercise certain muscles while you walk. Oprah's a fan. They're priced from $50 to $125. Available at many stores around the suburbs. See www.thefitflop.com for locations.

• Shoemall.com. Bright colored shoes are in this spring, and shoemall.com has inventory in every color of the rainbow. Check out the Kenneth Cole Reaction Smart Tart, which retails for $89.95.
