Walter Payton Collection debuts this week at Finish Line

The new clothing line featuring Sweetness sure is - sweet.

Starting this week, all of the suburban Finish Line stores are selling the new Walter Payton Collection by KangaROOS. The collection includes leather athletic shoes and clothing with retro images of Payton. Most items include Payton's jersey number 34, the Sweetness Logo and the signature of the late, great Chicago Bears running back.

Shoe prices range from $85 to $100, and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation, which helps neglected, abused and underprivileged children.

Lost gloves and mittens?

Did your child lose a glove or mitten this winter? If it was a Lands' End glove or mitten, you're in luck.

Lands' End - which has stores called "inlets" in Lombard and Schaumburg and sells its products at suburban Sears stores - has a "Lost Mitten Club."

If a child's glove or mitten gets lost, you can buy a replacement. They'll sell you one glove - at half the price of the regular pair's cost - and ship it to you free.

Twist-N-Shot

It's not unusual to be at a party and, after a few drinks, someone comes up with an idea for an invention.

When it happened to brothers Jared Megleo, 27, and Jason, 30, of Beach Park, they actually pursued the idea.

In 2006, the Megleos attended their annual "cousins party" with about 100 relatives and friends. Jared's wife, Lori, brought her famous Jell-O shots. Everyone loved them but complained the Jell-O stuck to the glass. (Jell-O shots are little cups of Jell-O, mixed with some type of alcohol, which are served - and sucked out of - a shot glass.)

"Jared said, 'You know what would work is a shot cup with some blades in it!'" recalled Jason. "My brother runs a prototyping company. His mind kind of works that way. He's a problem solver."

A prototype was made, and last year, the Twist-N-Shot was put on the market by Rosemont-based All-In Enterprises.

Twist-N-Shots are plastic cups with colorful plastic blades on the inside. The blades remove the Jell-O shot into a solid chunk.

They come in four colors and are sold retail and wholesale. A box of 20 is $10.99 at twistnshot.com.
