Fall fashion offers striking fringe benefits
When you think of fringe, what comes to mind? Bikers? Hippies? Pocahontas?
What you should think of is style, because fringe is making a comeback.
The retro fabric strips are now dangling off everything from jackets to handbags, and from scarves to boots.
Some examples: Jill Stuart's holiday handbag collection includes the Anya in Coco bag with silver fringe ($458 at zappos.com), and shoemall.com's boots with fringe up the side, including the Minnetonka Woodstock ($79.95 at shoemall.com).
Also big this season? Tattoo designs.
You've probably seen tattoo guru Ed Hardy's shoe line, but now there are Footiez - tattoos that you rub onto your athletic shoes. Footiez, which are manufactured in Inverness, come in several designs including a logo of the professional indoor soccer team the Chicago Storm. They're $4.99 to $6 and available at Dick's Sporting Goods, at footiez.com or at the Sears Centre during Chicago Storm games.
