Always search for positives when fighting cancer

Rarely, if ever, do people give a thought to the number of words in a sentence, in a phrase, a paragraph or an idea.

Only when demanded, as in great literature -- "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways" -- do we become aware of the numbers.

In my physical therapy, everything is measured by counting. Walk for a count of 10, sit for a count of 10.

The goal of the daily therapy is to refine my walking and wheelchair skills.

A few weeks ago, a bout of pneumonia and a tumor pressing on my spine left me hospitalized and unable to walk without assistance.

Now at a rehab center, I'm trying to gain strength and independence.

Life with cancer says it all. The good. The bad. And, believe it or not, there can be both.

I always love to look for the positive. But it sometimes takes its time being revealed.
