Comments showed insensitivity to injury

Recently, I was watching the news on Channel 5. The field reporter was giving a story on a carjacking of two young women on the North Side of Chicago. The carjackers used their vehicle to block the women's car from leaving while three or more young men pulled the ladies from their car slammed them to the ground and drove away in their car.

While showing the video from the scene with the two young ladies on the ground, the reporter went on to say "No one was injured." I was stunned by those words.

I found myself screaming at the TV screen, wondering what this person was thinking. These young ladies were thrown to the ground, traumatized, victimized and robbed of their dignity let alone their car. The words "No one was injured" were some of the most insensitive words I have ever heard.

The reporter was wrong.
