Letter: Church singled out unfairly on sex cases

After the screaming headlines of the Catholic Church abuse cases in Illinois (with 90% of them prior to the year 2000) this week, nary a mention has ever been given to the storyline of the Chicago Public School abuse cases.

According to the Illinois Policy organization report in January of this year, there were 470 sexual complaints in the Chicago Public Schools from students about adult educators in the 2021-2022 alone. Similar numbers were reported the previous two years as well. They racked up nearly as many in three years as the alleged numbers of the Catholic Church abuse cases did in 7 decades, per the five year investigation of Democrat Attorney General Kwame Raoul.

So where was Attorney General Raoul on the Chicago Public Schools abuse cases? Or where were the other major news organizations? Cue the crickets. The Catholic Church is far from the preeminent scourge of children in society today. People need not look further than our Chicago Public School system.
