Letter: Support candidates who support parents

The upcoming school board election could be the most important one ever. In November, D211 voted to implement the Comprehensive Sex Education Curriculum, which takes effect next month. Parental opposition to this was overwhelming.

Only two of the seven school board members voted no. They were Mark Cramer and Peter Dombrowski, both are currently up for reelection. They deserve to be reelected. In addition, Susan Saam and Barbara Velez deserve your vote as they too share the values of this community; and will work tirelessly to see that our children have the best education possible.

What parent wants the schools to be teaching vulnerable children how to define oral and anal sex, or how to masturbate? That there are many genders, about hormone blockers for young children who identify as transgender and that there are a range of sexual orientations (e.g., heterosexual, bisexual, lesbian, gay, queer, two spirit, asexual and pansexual)? Or how to get contraception without a prescription, including the abortion pill?

With the most recent school report cards showing how dismal the academic results were, this is where we want to be spending our time? I don't think so.

These four candidates (Mark Cramer, Peter Dombrowski, Susan Saam and Barbara Velez), best represent the views of the parents in D211. They oppose the sexualization of our children and want the best academic experience possible for each and every child. They also oppose any increase in D211 Property Tax Levy.

Let's not allow the educational system to get between us and our children. As parents we have every right to know what's going on in our child's classroom.
