Letter: Problem is not Omar

Republicans in Congress removed Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Relations Committee over allegedly anti-Semitic remarks. Obviously, they have failed to give this proper thought. The problem here is not Ilhan Omar; it is the obsession with multiculturalism. Omar is doing what she was elected to do, to represent her constituents. In multiculturalism, identity-groups such as Somali Muslims vote for their own interests, not for the interests of other such groups (i.e. Jews). As Omar famously said, "We did not come here to assimilate." Conversely, other groups also vote for their interests. The solution is to repatriate Muslim Somalis, not just removal of a congressperson from a committee.
