Letter: Nothing for Biden to apologize for

Mark Claussner of St. Charles stated in a letter that President Biden's "semi-fascist" comment was out of line, that President Biden stated that anyone that disagrees with his policies are semi-fascists. Not true.

I believe the president's remark was calling the MAGA philosophy semi-fascism. And, quite frankly, he is absolutely correct and has nothing to apologize for.

If you look up fascism it states that fascism is a far-right authoritarian ultranationalist political ideology and movement characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, etc.

All one has to do is look back on the past few years (when Trump was in office) and see that Donald Trump is the epitome of this type of government, and I for one shudder to think what would happen if he got back into power.

If this is the kind of country Mr. Claussner wants to live in, perhaps he should move to Russia. But the last time I looked, the United States of America was a democracy.

President Biden hit the nail on the head when he said that MAGA is a cult that has put our precious democracy in peril. He was addressing only a select group of people. When did you ever think you would see white supremacists taking the stage alongside a former president of the United States.

Personally, I would take 10 Joe Bidens to one Donald Trump.
