Thanks for listening to veterans on cemetery

A thank you to the planning committee, Lake County Forest Preserve District for their support on the transfer of 4.7 acres to the Fort Sheridan National Cemetery.

With more than 100 veterans in attendance and 20 veteran speaking, the committee listened patiently as veterans explained the need for the transfer.

One veteran noted that the cemetery is at capacity and veterans were denied burial at Fort Sheridan.

The committee was concerned about the length of time needed to do the transfer as it has to be approved by the state.

The veterans assured the committee that if it fast paced approval, they would ensure that the Illinois General Assembly would fast pace passage of a bill to approve the transfer.

My praise to the veterans who attended as they showed their concern for their fellow veterans who want to be buried at the Fort Sheridan National Cemetery.
