Letter: Bensenville leaders listen to residents on golf course

I read the front page article concerning the future of the area around White Pines Golf Course in Bensenville, and I must say that I am impressed with the caliber of the officials in the town. These people actually listen to their residents and consider what is in their best interest.

Also, they desire to preserve as much green space and mature trees that exist in the golf course and surrounding area. Bensenville is a charming town and we enjoy going there as many times as we can, especially when there's a movie playing at the Bensenville Theater that we want to see. The town has a lot to offer and I believe the attitude there is one of a welcoming and vibrant village.

It is so important to stand up and be strong when it comes to dealing with these huge developers who are intent on removing the people from our communities and bringing in warehouses, which is all they care about since so much money is involved.

I congratulate the park district and village officials of Bensenville on their recent decision to hold tight and to turn down the corporate developer's offers. It may possibly seem tempting at first to consider the offers made but I just wish people would think about the long term effects of their decisions.
