Letter: Contrasts in character of governor candidates

I find it interesting that the GOP candidate for governor, Darren Bailey, has ads emphasizing his religious beliefs and apparently higher moral standards while at the same time thanking former President Donald Trump for his leadership. Donald Trump tried to overturn a lawful election, was an adulterer who paid a porn star $130,000 for sex, lied through his teeth about it and told so many lies you could not keep count and yet Darren Bailey, he of self proclaimed moral superiority used him as a measuring stick for leadership.

So I think do not buy into his ad campaign and the image he is trying to cultivate.

Whatever J.B. Pritzker's faults are, he has not tried to proclaim himself as a better candidate due to his religious beliefs. Then again we are supposed to have a separation of church and state, which he is following by example.

Gov. Pritzker provided perhaps the best leadership in the country during the pandemic and despite criticism, stuck with the scientific approach, decided to close public gathering spots like bars, restaurants, gyms, etc. and faced off without fear against Donald Trump, who provided no leadership. J.B. stood up and took the heat for his actions.

That says far more about character than self proclamations.
