Letter: Vote and help solve the plague of mass shootings

Fed up with the constant mass shootings across our nation? Wondering what you can do to stand up against gun violence in America? There is a concrete step that each of us can take to help stem the tide of gun violence: vote in November.

We should endeavor to learn exactly where the people running for the various offices at every level of government stand on the issue of gun control. We should vote only for the ones who promise to take definitive steps to enact meaningful laws to curb the violence, including banning assault weapons, effective red flag laws, waiting periods, universal background checks, mental health reporting and more. It's well past time to stop reelecting people who only pay lip service to the issue or openly oppose needed reform.

If we don't make our voices heard loud and clear at the ballot box, nothing will change.
