Letter: Unborn send thanks

The history of the United States Supreme Court is such that a previous ruling by the court has been overturned many times in American history.

As so succinctly defined by Justice Alito in overruling the Roe decision: "Abortion is a profound moral question. The Constitution of the United States does not prevent the citizens of each state from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey both arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives."

The judiciary does not have the power to enact sweeping national laws, as was achieved by Roe. The judiciary's role is to interpret law. Also, the judiciary does have the authority to overturn unconstitutional laws enacted by previous courts. This authority was fulfilled by the current Supreme Court. Many unborn babies send their thanks.
