Letter: Take peace bill a step further

I want to thank my congressional representative Mike Quigley for co-sponsoring the Yemen War Powers Resolution (H. J. Res. 87). Entering its seventh year, this Saudi-led war in Yemen is the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Ending U.S. support for the war brings us closer to peace for Yemeni civilians.

As a peace activist, I'm glad that my member of Congress represents my values. We need Congress to show that it will not tolerate any U.S. military support abroad without congressional approval, nor will it wait by idly as our tax dollars are used to give military support to authoritarian rulers such as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

I urge Rep. Quigley to take a step further and call on his colleagues in the House Foreign Affairs and House Armed Services committees to sign on as well, especially Reps. Adam Smith, Gregory Meeks and Ted Deutch.
