Letter: Too much information

Page 2 of the May 6 edition of The Daily Herald carries an article about Karine-Jean Pierre replacing Jen Psaki as the next White House press secretary. The headline reads, "First Black woman, openly LGBT person to be press secretary." Anyone capable of reading the newspaper can see that she is a black woman. Do we have to know that she is openly LGBT? If the position were filled by a white male, would the headline read "White man, openly straight to be press secretary"?

I don't think so.
