Letter: Impeach Gorsuch and Kavanaugh for lying
What has America become when swearing on the Bible no longer guarantees the sanctity of truth?
Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh swore on the Bible and then lied during the interview process, saying, in their opinions, Roe v. Wade was "settled law."
Yet, they signed onto Justice Alito's draft statement, which, if enacted, would gut the settled law (their words) of Roe v. Wade.
It appears that we no longer can trust the words of either of these men. In my opinion, these men should be impeached for lying to Congress. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised since the liar-in-chief of the Republican Party, Donald Trump, nominated both men.
The possibility of engaging in deceit by prospective candidates interviewing for a position on the Supreme Court is good reason to establish a term limit of 12 years for a Supreme Court justice. Such limits also would remove the Ivory Tower mentality of a guaranteed job for life and allow for new justices to bring to the court an awareness of what the American people think and want in terms of the laws that will affect their lives.
