Letter: Guns and tropes
The April 15 editorial supporting anti-gun legislation speaks of "tropes" of Second Amendment defenders, but does so with typical gun control "tropes" to do it. There is no justification for such legislation because the problem is never weapons, but the people who abuse them. In the state of Illinois, law enforcement has had no friend in city or state legislatures. Those like Kim Foxx are a far greater obstruction to law enforcement than the fight to prevent more impotent gun control laws.
Ghost guns have only amounted to 1-2% of all guns seized. What's more, ghost guns are not untraceable as they are portrayed as being, and they don't even account for most of the guns seized without serial numbers.
The real problem is as it's always been law enforcement and holding criminals accountable. Not guns.
