Letter: Naperville Park District appreciates work of volunteers

April 17-23 is National Volunteer Week, a time set aside to encourage and recognize volunteers. As an organization that relies heavily on the time and talents of our volunteers who support many different areas of the Naperville Park District, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you.

In a typical year, nearly 3,000 individuals give their time and talents to help the park district provide excellent recreation programs and beautiful parks for our community. During the pandemic, volunteers continued to help where they could, from sewing face coverings to assisting with modified youth sports programs.

Volunteers support a variety of activities, including special events, park maintenance, youth sports teams, citizen committees, senior programs and special projects. This month, in honor of Earth Day, many volunteers will help beautify our parks, mulch trails, pull weeds and much more.

Thanks to each of you who has found time in your busy schedules to volunteer with us. I speak on behalf of the entire park district staff and park board when i say we greatly appreciate you and thank you for your support of the Naperville Park District.

Brad Wilson, Executive Director
