Let popular vote determine elections

The excellent Jan. 9 article on the several options for making changes in the Electoral College concept is interesting but doesn't go far enough. The Founding Fathers had a lofty goal of fairness toward those states that had more land than voters. Back then, they couldn't imagine the eventual tumult that it would cause in modern elections. Someone said: people vote, not open-spaces.

The time has come (and is overdue) to have the popular vote determine the outcome of an election. Eliminate the "Electoral College" ...
