We'll regret it if we don't call out treason

I thought in eighth grade I had passed my civics class - but now I'm not so sure.

I must have misunderstood that attempting to overthrow your government is called treason. We all watched the insurrection with our own eyes, yet some of us are asking to forget it and move on?

My family arrived in the United States in 1622. Many of my ancestors contributed to forming this great nation as teachers and legislators. When insurrectionists storm the Capitol, good people must pay attention and protect the legacies of families who have made America their home and worked to keep it a functioning democratic republic.

Authoritarian governing will slowly kill us from the inside. It will destroy our souls, our desire to help others, our freedom to speak truth.

Be mindful of what is happening in America today, and of those who urge us to look the other way.

If we don't call it out, I sincerely believe we will forever regret it.
