Curtain: The February Newspaper Movie of the Month

'The Tender Bar'

This current Amazon Prime lighthearted drama is based on the autobiographical book by author J.R. Moehringer. In it, aspiring writer J.R. Maguire gets a job as a copyboy at The New York Times after his pal tells him, "You suck at writing; that's when you become a journalist." But all of that is somewhat a sidelight to the story of him growing up in a single-parent home that had been abandoned by his irresponsible father. Directed by George Clooney. The cast includes Ben Affleck, Christopher Lloyd, Ron Livingston and Tye Sheridan. It's available at select theaters as well as Prime Video.
