Stop wasting time on Jan. 6 investigation

Donald Trump was impeached under an article claiming incitement to insurrection. That article failed for several reasons, but at this point, the House Select Committee on Jan. 6 should disband or at the very least narrow their focus to making the Capitol Building and Federal Facilities safer and improving coordination with other law enforcement agencies.

Having watched the impeachment trial, the Democrats would like you to think that Donald Trump's actions were actually criminal in nature. If so, then why not let the criminal justice system do what it is supposed to do? He is no longer president. If there is sufficient evidence of criminal activity, then charges should be brought and he should have his day in court.

The House Select Committee is nothing more than a constant political infomercial for the Democrats created out of fear that voters might actually support Trump again. If we are truly being bipartisan, then where is the investigation of linkages between the riots that were taking place in cities (where people actually did die by violence) during the last two years of Trump's presidency and comments made by officials at local, county, state and federal levels?

Riots that resulted in death, injury to officers, damage to buildings (including local, state and federal government facilities). You would find similar language of incitement used by various elected officials directed at Trump and at law enforcement. There are enough real problems to resolve (like gun violence, immigration reform, cost of higher education, economic equity, the national debt, growing inflation, etc.) without having elected representatives wasting time "gathering evidence." It's time to go forward as "we the people" and not get stuck in the past for obvious political reasons.
