Stand up for truth at ballot box

I'm scared. A survey conducted between Sept. 16 and Sept. 29 through online interviews with a random sample of 2,508 adults living in all 50 states by the nonprofit Public Religion Research Institute found that 30 percent of Republicans, 11 percent of Democrats and 17 percent of independents believe that violence may be needed to save America.

Among the causes cited for this scary belief are Donald Trump's "Big Lie," Republican leaders who willingly continue to lie and Fox News. These three have convinced 68 percent of Republicans that Donald Trump won the 2020 election.

I'm scared because many willing to continue the "Big Lie" will probably be reelected. I implore people to support truth and vote for candidates of either party who are honest and truthful so America can again come together and move ahead and again become the country of the American dream where anyone regardless of race or class can attain success in a society that willingly welcomes all good people.

My fear is if we do not stand up and hold accountable liars and violence mongers who spread hate and divisiveness, the American dream will cease to exist.
