Political leaders are failing our police

I am very angry today. On this past Saturday evening a brave Chicago Police officer (a true hero) was brutally murdered and her partner was critically injured and is fighting for his life. Hopefully he will survive; however, due to the catastrophic gunshot injuries he sustained, his life will never be the same.

The mayor of the city of Chicago shows up at the hospital, which technically is the right thing to do; however, this mayor does not now or ever has supported the Chicago Police Department. She was asked not to go the area where the officer was battling for his life, but she went anyway. She was told by the father of Officer Yanez to leave as she was not welcome there. She did eventually leave. In reality, this was an act of disrespect to the family

When a police officer is ,killed it affects all of society, whether you know it or not. I know it still takes a piece of my heart away when this happens. But where is our governor? Where is our state attorney general (the highest law enforcement officer in the state)? Where are our state and U.S senators? Where is President Biden? Not a word from them about these officers and the ultimate sacrifice they have made.

Yet, Biden will invite the family of a four-time felon to the White House to praise their deceased relative. I will not say his name here as I don't want to give him anymore press.

Yes, I am angry and I'm sick of it. Today we all are just a bit less safe because of what has happened. Hug your family a little tighter today and be thankful that your family members come home safe to you. Rest in peace Officer French and keep fighting Officer Yanez.
