Require vaccination proof for public events

I want to applaud the Paramount Theatre for their decision to require all patrons to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to attending a performance. The Paramount is also requiring vaccinations for all their performers and staff.

All performing arts organizations have suffered significantly during the pandemic since "live" performances had to be canceled.

I am involved with a performing arts organization in the Fox Valley and I know firsthand the financial pressures this pandemic has placed on performers and organizations.

Requiring proof of vaccination is an essential step toward ensuring safe and healthy "live" performances for all. If more companies and organizations follow the Paramount's lead and require their staffs to be vaccinated, then all of us can return to our pre-pandemic lives sooner.

Unfortunately, it has become obvious that the unvaccinated are not motivated by scientific evidence, financial incentives or health concerns for their neighbors. They continue to avoid free and easily available vaccinations.

Our best chance to beat this virus, motivate the unvaccinated and protect everyone is to require proof of vaccination at work and indoor events.
