Congresswoman guided by compassion, hard work

I've lived in Lake in the Hills for over 20 years and I've never been as excited about my congressional representation than I am with Dist. 14 U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood.

For years, I have watched our previous representatives work to weaken the social safety net, callously treating people in need of assistance as if it is due to some moral failing of their own. So it's a breath of fresh air to have a compassionate representative who not only understands our crucial role in building up our community, but works hard to DO it.

Congresswoman Underwood extended the Child Tax Credit which will cut child poverty in half. The American Jobs Plan and The American Families Plan will bring more good paying jobs to our community and make child care more affordable. The INVEST in America Act will bring much needed transportation investments to Woodstock and Randall Rd.

Everyone should be excited about this legislation. Isn't it our goal to make our community the most prosperous it can be? We all win when we support those in need.

Otherwise, what do you accomplish when you oppose lifting children out of poverty? What do you accomplish when you oppose the creation of good jobs and affordable child care? What do you accomplish when you oppose important investments in our community?

Nothing.

Lauren knows lifting children out of poverty gives them a better chance to be successful in the future. Lauren knows affordable child care will allow more parents to contribute financially to their families. Lauren knows better paying jobs help people not need assistance. Lauren knows that our community is stronger when we help everyone succeed.

I really appreciate that Lauren understands our needs and works hard to bring us improvements and opportunity.
